The Cause Of Toe Nail Fungus: Why We Get Toe Nail Infection
Toenail fungus infection is a common condition regardless of what part of the planet you hail from. Because the infection occurs deep beneath the hard surface of the toe nails, getting rid of it is a million times more difficult than acquiring it. Not that you want to. But a look at how it develops and what causes it may just be your clue as to how to either prevent it or remedy it.
Where Can You Get Nail Fungus Infection
Fungus, the root cause of the condition thrives on warm, moist places. In this case, there are several places where you can get the fungus such as swimming pools, public baths, showers, gym, locker rooms, and other places where its dark, dingy, and wet. The infection is transmitted by direct contact. Walking barefoot on these places or trying on the shoes of someone with the infection can infect you as well.
Salons
The problem with some salons is that they do not take time to sterilize their nail files, emery boards and other salon nail tools. Sharing these tools with other customers of the salon is highly unhygienic and poses a high risk of getting infected especially if you have tiny cuts and scratches near the area of contact with these nail cleaning tools.
Footwear
Another sad thing is that once the cause of toe nail fungus infection has settled in on your nails, it becomes difficult to get rid of. Because the infection takes root beneath the nails, even topical and anti fungal creams don’t always get rid of the fungus, the cause of the infection. In this sense, it’s only logical for some people to resort to constantly wear socks and closed shoes in their effort to conceal the infection.
What most of these individuals don’t know is that in trying to hide the infection on the outside, they are encouraging its growth on the inside. Wearing tight socks and shoes or non-porous and non-absorbent footwear only creates the perfect environment for the fungi to thrive even more. As much as possible then, do away with these types of footwear.
The first step in fighting this debilitating infection is to start at the root cause of toe nail fungus. Now that it has been identified, preventing the infection and treating it becomes much easier
